I am honored to have studied fiction with Helen Schulman, Jeffrey Renard Allen, Katherine Vaz, Mary Gordon, and Abigail Thomas; poetry with Karen Swenson, Zoe Anglessey and Marie Ponsot. My writing practice deepened while earning an MFA in Creative Writing at the New School in 2003 where I won its Fiction Prize. From 2003-2016 several of my stories and poems were published in literary journals; two won first prizes, two were nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and I received two grants from Vt Arts Council and Vt Community Foundation. I spent six weeks in Spain on a travel grant from the Jerome Foundation to write about flamenco in 2009/2010. My essay about the experience appeared online at 3Quarks Daily where I contributed essays on dance, theatre and literature from 2009 to 2016.
